Alison Badgett holds the degrees Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Kentucky (2000) and Master of Music in Voice Performance from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (2002). She has studied with such notable teachers as Stephen King (currently of Rice University and Voice Teacher in Residence of the Houston Grand Opera Studio) and the late Gail Robinson (formerly Chair of Voice, University of Kentucky, and singer at the Metropolitan Opera). She has also sung in masterclasses with Myra Merritt, Sherrill Milnes, Power Performance for Singers authors Shirlee Emmons and Alma Thomas, and Robert Edwin, NATS “Bach to Rock” columnist and private instructor. Alison, a light lyric soprano, most recently appeared with the Long Island Choral Society for their November 2008 performances of Brahms’ Requiem. She has sung the roles of ‘Susanna’ in Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart) and ‘Lucy’ in The Telephone (Menotti), and has performed an array of Oratorio solos with orchestra, including The Messiah (Handel), The Seven Last Words of Christ (DuBois), Magnificat (Rutter), St. Paul (Mendelssohn), Gloria (Poulenc), and Cantata #80 (Bach). Alison is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and has been teaching for 6 years. Her students’ achievements have included a Semi-Finalist in the Overture Awards in Cincinnati (2004), leads in school musicals all over Cincinnati, Ohio, acceptance into the Governor’s School for the Arts in Kentucky, and acceptance and music scholarships into many fine colleges and universities, including Indiana University, Belmont University, Hanover College, and Northern Kentucky University. Alison moved to Long Island in February of 2006, and is married to Jonathan Badgett, Worship Pastor of Living Faith Christian Church. They have three children, Madison, 5, and Benjamin, 3, and Laurelen, 6 months. |
